Activities

Rent a Duffy Boat or Kayak – Cruise Newport Harbor in a quiet electric boat (Duffy), paddleboard, or kayak. Rentals are available on the island and nearby.

Go Stand-Up Paddleboarding – Calm waters make it beginner-friendly. Look for rentals on the Island

Stroll Marine Avenue – Boutique shops, art galleries, candy stores, and souvenir shops line the island’s main street.

Art Galleries & Gifts – Check out places like Balboa Island Museum and local art galleries for gifts or coastal art.

Walk the Island Perimeter – A scenic, flat 1.7-mile loop around the island offers harbor views, beautiful homes, and relaxing benches.

Sunset at the Bridge – The bridge connecting the island to the mainland is a great spot for sunset views and photos. Instagram spot for the cute selfie.

Harbor Cruise or Whale Watching – Book a local cruise departing nearby for dolphin and whale sightings.

Ferry

Take the Balboa Island Ferry
A short and scenic ride connecting the island to the Balboa Peninsula—great views and a fun experience. The Peninsula also has great surfing.

Fun Zone

Visit the Balboa Fun Zone (just across via ferry)
A short ride away, this classic amusement area has an arcade, Ferris wheel, and harbor cruises. A quick walk to the ferry from the cottage.
